Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
It was certainly a PJ weekend...we took the time to sleep in both days and Saturday cleaned the house from top to bottom. While doing that we realized the basement carpet was wet. It was more frustrating than anything cause we weren't sure what caused it, but we know the house was still very new.

Luckily we have a neighbour who does home renovations and friends who have been through it before that gave us some good tips. We're fairly confident we now know what caused it and what to do to avoid it from happening again.

In other news...seems as if a door of opportunity may have opened...time will only tell.

So what may have caused it then? I'm curious!

Well my neighbour used some terms i didnt understand, but basically what i got was this:

We let the snow build up along the window in the basement...The drain that pushes the water away from the house was frozen so when things started to melt fast the water had no water to go..that and the windows outside weren't sealed properly so the water seeped in from there. But there was no obvious water damage stains around the window or on the walls.

So that's what were thinking it is/was...we've left the carpets up for a week now and they are all dried out and no further water has gotten in... *Crosses fingers*
