The Day has arrived...Today I say goodbye to Eric as he embarks on the first wave of our European adventure. He will be leaving in about 2 hours. He is asleep, and although the selfish part of me wants to wake him up to spend the next two hours wrapped in one anothers arms, I figure i'll let him sleep seeing as he wont be sleeping for a couple of days now...The last couple days have been a bit of a blur with moving things to storage and setting up a 'bachelor pad' here in our tiny apartment for me to live in for the next six weeks. Life has been well hectic, running here, and darting there, but it seems like we have all of our ducks lined up...hopefully we actually do and no surprises jump out at us!
Well here's to a safe trip for my sexy husband...I love you monkey :)...and I hope that you have a great trip see you there in 6 weeks!

Ethnic cuisines you dislike? [Nov. 11th, 2009|06:02 pm]

vorpal
So... we've talked a lot about types of food that you like. Now how about what style of ethnic cuisines you dislike?

For me, I like nearly everything I've tried so far, but I have to say that Latin cuisines of all types don't do much for me and I don't find them very interesting, memorable, or exciting. Mexican in particular really doesn't turn me on. I suspect the same would be true of some European cuisines, but I haven't tried them often enough to know.

A friend and I sitting around after the awesome Rider win last night:

"man I really hope Winnipeg wins their game, I don't want to see BC in the playoffs at all."

"if Winnipeg wins, Wally will probably throw his challenge flag."

Movies: 2012 [Nov. 7th, 2009|07:04 am]

Who here plans to see the movie 2012 when it comes out?

Honestly, having seen a metric buttload of movies this year, I can honestly say that it seems like it's going to easily take the title of Most Retarded Movie of 2009, stealing it cleanly from Knowing, or possibly this year's Final Destination movie (which is the only movie I almost walked out of in probably over 60 movies I've seen, which I only attended because I was interested in going to a more "adult" 3D movie).

Frankly, there is nothing I detest more when it comes to movies than action flicks and endless mindless violence / destruction. (This is why, despite the fact that it had many good ideas, I had a really hard time fully enjoying District 9). The previews for 2012 have made me roll my eyes so much that I fear I might simultaneously sprain them both. I would rather watch a fruit fly live its entire life and die than go see it.

In other news, my favourite movie of the year? Easily Coraline. Loved, loved it. Only movie I liked enough to repeat more than once: I went three times.

Week 19 Schedule [Nov. 6th, 2009|09:22 am]

Well, you really can't ask for a better final week to the season then this. Three of the four games matter, a great deal. We don't know much about the playoffs yet, which is how it should be. Things break down like this:

Calgary is playing Saskatchewan. The winner hosts the West final. The loser hosts the West semifinal (the tie game both teams have means that BC and Edmonton can't catch them).

BC is playing Edmonton. The winner travels to the West semifinal. The loser might get the crossover.

Hamilton is playing Winnipeg. The winner hosts the East semifinal. Winnipeg MUST win in order to make the playoffs. Hamilton can lose and still make the playoffs unless BC and Edmonton tie.

In the other game, I think Montreal is trying to set a franchise record for wins, or something. Toronto is starting a rookie QB they didn't even have dressed for games a couple of weeks ago. If you're an Alouettes fan (like my wife) that one will probably be more fun to watch then if you're an Argos fan. Sufficied to say the game doesn't matter in the slightest in regards to the playoffs.

Friday - 10:30pm - Edmonton @ BC
Saturday - 1pm - Montreal @ Toronto
Saturday - 7pm - Calgary @ Saskatchewan
Sunday - 1pm - Hamilton @ Winnipeg

CFL '09 Week Nineteen [Nov. 6th, 2009|12:41 am]

[mood | 39.5 for 64]

Last Week:

Toronto v Edmonton - Edmonton won 36 to 10.
Saskatchewan v Hamilton - Hamilton won 24 to 6.
Calgary v B.C. - Calgary won 28 to 26.
Winnipeg v Montreal - Montreal won 48 to 13.

Well folks, when you're right [62%] of the time you're wrong [38%] of the time... In the game of [Calgary] versus [Saskatchewan] I declare [Calgary] to my "Lock of the Week"... I pick [Saskatchewan] to be my "Shoe In of the Week"... So the final week of the season is upon us and with it I do include a slightly personal note. I've decided that while I will continue with my power ranking schemes the predictions I make will be, ultimately be going the way of the Dodo. Three years in I still take away a fair amount of pleasure by formulating and creating the CFL power rankings for myself (and others) whereas here, with predictions, I find it much more of a tedious chore then something I look forward to every week. This coupled with only minor improvement over the seasons, and other sources being noticeably more accurate in predictions percentage then my own, has led me to this conclusion. I still may include a "pick" with my power-rankings next year, I'm not certain yet, but the write-ups, the records and the recaps are going to go. R.I.P. future predictions. May your reincarnation, whatever it may be, be many times more reliable then Nostradamus.

Onto Week Nineteen Final Predictions )
East

1 Montreal (14-3-0) in the playoffs
2 Hamilton (8-9-0)
3 Winnipeg (7-10-0)
4 Toronto (3-14-0)

West

1 Calgary (10-6-1) in the playoffs
2 Saskatchewan (9-7-1) in the playoffs
3 B.C. (8-9-0)
3 Edmonton (8-9-0)
